Ryan Waid is a Financial Advisor at Graves Light Lenhart, where he helps individuals and families develop comprehensive, long-term financial plans. With more than 25 years of professional experience and a background in law and taxation, Ryan brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to helping clients navigate complex financial decisions involving retirement planning, tax strategy, estate considerations, and wealth transfer.
Ryan began his career as a Senior Consultant in the Tax Division of Ernst & Young, working in Cleveland, Ohio and later in McLean, Virginia. He later spent 15 years as a partner with the law firm of BotkinRose PLC in Harrisonburg, Virginia, advising clients on a wide range of legal and tax-related matters. For the past 18 years, Ryan also served as Of Counsel with Hancock, Daniel & Johnson, P.C., a Richmond-based law firm, where his work focused on employee benefits and related tax issues.
Ryan’s legal and tax background complements GLL’s collaborative wealth management approach, allowing him to help clients integrate financial planning with broader legal and tax considerations. He is known for his careful analysis, practical guidance, and commitment to working closely with clients and their other professional advisors to develop coordinated strategies aligned with their goals and values.
Ryan has been married to his wife, Kathleen for over 25 years, and they have two daughters. He has been active in the Harrisonburg community for many years, including as a founder of the Association of Young Professionals, a past board member of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, and a past board member of the Massanutten Regional Library. Like several members of the GLL team, Ryan is a graduate of the Chamber’s Community Leadership program. In his free time, he enjoys CrossFit and attending sporting events with family and friends.
